ED ARRESTS TMC LEADER IN CATTLE SMUGGLING CASE
KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal was on Thursday arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the cattle smuggling case in West Bengal, officials said.
Mondal was arrested after more than five hours of questioning inside Asansol jail, where he is currently lodged.
He was earlier arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation and is in judicial custody.
“Mondal was not cooperating and hence he was arrested on Thursday,” an ED official said, seeking anonymity.
“Central agencies are being used for political gains... we want ED to complete its investigation at the earliest,” TMC MP Santanu Sen said.
