3 STUDENTS HELD OVER ‘PRO-PAK’ SLOGANS: POLICE

- HTC

BENGALURU: Three students of a private engineering college in Bengaluru were arrested for allegedly raising pro-pakistan slogans, police said on Saturday.

The students of New Horizon College of Engineering, who were suspended by authorities, were later released on bail.

The students were arrested after a purported video of them chanting “Pakistan Zindabad”, despite objections from other fellow students, went viral. HT could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

Police registered a suo motu case against the three under the Indian Penal Code at Marathahalli Police Station, a senior officer said. Preliminary probe did not suggest their links with any banned or Pakistan-based outfits or any other “ill intentions”, the officer said.

“They shouted the slogans just for fun. We will question them further,” the officer said.
