VALLEY: TERRORIST HELD FOR MIGRANT WORKER’S MURDER KILLED IN CROSSFIRE
SRINAGAR: A Lashkar-e-taiba (LET) terrorist, who was arrested in connection with the killing of a migrant labourer earlier this month, was shot dead in crossfire between security forces and terrorists in Kashmir’ Anantnag district on Sunday, police said.
The deceased, identified as Sajjad Tantray, was taken to the Cheki Duddo area of the district to help locate terrorist hideouts when the security team was attacked, police said.
“When the search party reached towards the suspected hideout, terrorists opened fire which hit Tantray, who was with search party for identification of the hideout. He was rushed to Bijbehara hospital where doctors declared him dead,” the Kashmir zone police tweeted.
“During probe, Tantray revealed that he had attacked two labourers on 13/11/2022 in Anantnag. Later, one of them had died,” the police said. Questioning the killing, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti tweeted: “Another Kashmiri accused of being a hybrid militant is killed in police custody...no accountability whatsoever.”
On October 19, police had said that terrorist Imran Bashir Ganie, who was accompanying security forces for identifying a hideout, was injured when terrorists fired on the search party. He was shifted to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
