SHINDE CAMP MLA SEEKS GUV REMOVAL FOR SHIVAJI REMARK

- HTC

MUMBAI: Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena (BSS) MLA Sanjay Gaikwad on Monday demanded that governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari be shifted out of the state for his recent remarks on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

“My request to BJP at the Centre is that a person who does not know the history of the state... be sent somewhere else,” the MLA from CM Eknath Shinde’s camp said.

Koshyari on Saturday said the Maratha king was a “hero of the past era” and referred to BR Ambedkar and Union minister Nitin Gadkari as “present heroes”. Gaikwad said repeated insults to Shivaji may lead to a split in the alliance, after the NCP accused BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi of saying Shivaji apologised to Mughal king Aurangzeb five times.

On Sunday, deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said Trivedi did not make any such remark.
