GANDHINAGAR: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday intensified his attack on Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel, calling him “a puppet CM” who cannot even appoint his peon, as he called upon people to give his party a chance in the upcoming assembly elections.

“The present chief minister of Gujarat Bhupendrabhai Patel has no power and he is just a puppet CM. He cannot even change his peon. I have heard that the man is good, but he has no voice of his own. Does the public want a puppet CM or a CM who is educated, intelligent, hardworking, and domineering? pointing towards the local candidate Gadhavi,” Kejriwal said during a campaign rally at Khambhalia in Devbhumi Dwarka district for AAP’S chief ministerial candidate Isudan Gadhvi.

“Today, I want to ask the people of Khambhalia, there are two faces before the people of Gujarat. One is Isudan Gadhvi and the other is Bhupendra Patel. Who will you vote for, who will you make chief minister? Gadhvi is a young leader whose heart beats only for the poor. Even when he was a reporter in the media, he did a lot of work for the farmers,” he said.

“It has been 75 years since India got Independence, but till date no one from Khambhalia has become the chief minister. Now, for the first time after 75 years, Khambhalia’s son is going to become the chief minister of Gujarat. That’s why today I am also very proud to be in the midst of all of you.”

Elections to the 182-member state assembly will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5. The counting of votes will be taken up on December 8.

During the rally, Kejriwal reiterated that the AAP has come as a better alternative for the people of the state. “I have been roaming all over Gujarat, and everywhere winds of change are blowing. Now everyone in Gujarat wants change. Everyone here is fed up with the Bharatiya Janata Party. After being in power for 27 years, the people of BJP have become arrogant... The AAP has come to challenge these BJP people, it has come as a better alternative.”

Hitting back at the Delhi CM, BJP spokesperson Yamal Vyas said, “We don’t need a certificate from Kejriwal on how much power our CM has, the people of Gujarat know very well... They don’t have any real issues and they know their candidates are going to lose their deposits...”
