LG seeks 467 new posts for Kartavya Path police station
NEW DELHI: Delhi lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Wednesday recommended the Union home ministry create 467 new posts for the Kartavya Path police station, said police officers aware of the development. After the government reopened the India Gate lawns (part of the Central Vista project) on September 9, the LG directed the Delhi Police to set up a dedicated station there to manage law and order exclusively around India Gate.
Officers at this police station will also be responsible for security outside the Parliament, residences of President, Vice President, Prime Minister and other top government officials.
“They will be deployed over a 4.5sqkm area around the police station that houses top government offices, judicial offices, and other office complexes,” said a police officer who asked not to be named.
