CBI MOVES HC, OPPOSES BAIL TO NAIR, BOINPALLY IN EXCISE POLICY CASE
NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday moved the Delhi high court, challenging a trial court’s order granting bail to Vijay Nair, a businessman associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Abhishek Boinpally, a consultant who allegedly worked for the “south lobby”, in connection with its money laundering probe in the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The petition challenging the bail order is listed for hearing on Thursday before Justice Yogesh Khanna.
A trial court on November 14 granted Nair and Boinpally bail.
Nair and Boinpally, however, remain in custody as they were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a moneylaundering case related to the excise policy.
