SC AGREES TO EXAMINE PLEA ON SAME-SEX MARRIAGES
NEW DELHI: Four years after it decriminalised homosexuality between consenting adults, the Supreme Court on Friday sought the Union government’s response on a clutch of petitions demanding legal recognition to same sex marriages under the Special Marriage Act. The court was persuaded to admit the matter in view of a statement made by the Centre recently that the ministry concerned was taking steps to get all similar cases transferred to the Supreme Court.
