Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale passes away
MUMBAI: Ve t e r a n a c t o r Vikram Gokhale, 77, passed away on Saturday due to multiple organ failure, at Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital in Pune. The actor was admitted to the hospital earlier this month.
“We a r e saddened to announce that noted actor Vikram Gokhale passed away today at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital due to multi-organ failure,” the hospital said in a statement. The actor is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Condoling his demise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Gokhale was a “creative and versatile actor”.
“Vikram Gokhale Ji was a creative and versatile actor. He will be remembered for many interesting roles in his long acting career. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family, friends and admirers. Om Shanti,” PM Modi tweeted. Meanwhile, Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee, Anil Kapoor and Raveena Tandon also paid tributes to Gokhale. “Very sad to know o f t h e d e mi s e o f V i k r a m Gokhale ji. Worked with him in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mission Mangal, had so much to learn from him. Om Shanti,”akshay Kumar tweeted.
Indian cinema lost a gem of an actor, said Bajpayee. “Had the privilege of working with him in ‘Aiyaary’...saddened to hear about Shri Vikram Go k h a l e j i ’ s d e mi s e . My thoughts & prayers are with the family,” the actor said.
“... his absence will be felt dearly... My heartfelt condolences to the family,” said Anil Kapoor.sharing a post about Gokhale’s death, Tandon tweeted, “Om Shanti”. Gokhale was cremated at Vaikunth crematorium later in the evening.
Gokhale acted in several Marathi and Bollywood films.
