The Sri Lankan author self-published his first novel in 2010. It won awards and acclaim. It took him 10 years to come out with his second novel,, The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida. Part thriller, part satire, it won the 2022 Booker Prize last month. He’s ecstatic, of course. But he hopes awards and attention drive more Sri Lankan stories into the spotlight
