ABDUCTED BOY FROM JAUNPUR RECOVERED IN 12 HRS, FIVE HELD
An 11-year-old boy, who was allegedly kidnapped from Tighara village under Khuthan police area in Jaunpur district on Sunday, was recovered within 12 hours of the incident on Monday morning, police said.
Giving this information, additional director general, Varanasi zone, Braj Bhushan said all five kidnappers including main accused Deepak Gupta, Khichadu Bind, Aman Yadav, Rohit Yadav and Suresh Gautam, all residents of different villages of Jaunpur, were also arrested.
Bhushan said after the incident, superintendent of police, Jaunpur, Raj Karan Nayyar had constituted 10 police teams to work out the case. As per the police, the five kidnappers had committed the crime to extort ransom from the boy’s kin.
As case of kidnapping was filed against the five abductors under Section 361 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and they were sent to jail, the police added.
The police said the boy’s father Pravesh Agrahari, a local businessman and farmer, informed them that his minor son was playing with some other children in front of his house when two bike-borne persons appeared them.
As per Agrahari, the duo asked his son to buy a ‘gutka’ (chewing tobacco) for them from a nearby shop. As the boy came close to them to take money, the duo allegedly picked up the boy and fled the scene.
The police said other children playing with the boy raised an alarm but the kidnappers had disappeared by the time other locals reached the spot.
On Monday, the police received inputs that the boy was kept in the house of Suresh Gautam—one of the five involved in the kidnapping. Swinging into action, a police team immediately raided the house and recovered the boy and arrested Gautam. The police said during interrogation, Gautam revealed that Deepak Gupta along with his accomplices Khichadu Bind, Aman Yadav, Rohit Yadav and Gautam himself made the kidnapping plan to extort ransom so that their economic condition could improve.
