Guv inaugurates golden jubilee function at Ishwar Saran college
PRAYAGRAJ: Iswar Saran Postgraduate College, a constituent college of Allahabad University (AU), marked the start of its golden jubilee celebrations on Tuesday.
UP Governor, Anandiben Patel attended the event virtually as the chief guest of the event which was held at the conference hall of the Gandhi teaching block of the college. The governor assured her cooperation in the efforts of the college to become a Harijan Sewak Sangh University, said PRO of the college Manoj Kumar Dubey.
She also congratulated the principal for his exemplary guidance and vision. She talked about the new provisions in new education policy (NEP) 2020 like academic credit bank and gender fund for girl child education. She also stressed on the need to reduce the dropout rate of girl child and said that it’s our responsibility to implement NEP 2020 in body and spirit by conducting programmes in educational institution for character building, he added.
The officiating vice chancellor of AU Prof RR Tiwari spoke about the challenges in academics during Covid-19 pandemic and how the University and its constituent colleges sought opportunities in these trying times. Rajendra Kumar Srivastava, chairman, governing body of the college said that Gandhian ideals should be adopted and incorporated in academics to project national sensibility.
The Governor also released the golden jubilee souvenir on the occasion. The Pramila Srivastava Campus was also inaugurated along with the unveiling of the statue of Prof Pramila Srivastava, Professor Emeritus, Ludwig University, a mathematician and renowned scholar. On this occasion, the chief guest inaugurated the Learning Management System (AVIRAL) of the college.
The principal of the college, Prof Anand Shanker Singh, welcomed the chief guest and shared the rich history of the college.
