3,033 NEW CASES IN UP; RECOVERY RATE 90%

The recovery rate of Covid patients in India’s most populous state – Uttar Pradesh had improved to 90%, said officials of the health and family welfare department on Tuesday.

The state’s Covid-19 infection tally rose to 4,42,327 with 3,033 fresh cases during the day while 3,97,570 patients had been discharged so far after recovery from the infection, they said.

Additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said the recovery rate of Covid patients was 90% and UP was witnessing a sharp decline in active cases. While 3,033 fresh cases were reported in the state, 3,662 patients were discharged from hospitals post recovery.

For the 26th consecutiv­e day, the number of patients recovered was higher than the fresh cases. There was a 44% decline in UP’s active Covid cases, he added.

The state was also recording a fall in the fatality rate. On Tuesday, 29 deaths were reported in UP, taking the overall count of fatalities to 6,466.

Lucknow reported nine more deaths, Ayodhya three, Varanasi, Sitapur two each, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Moradabad Barabanki, Maharajgan­j, Etawah, Basti, Unnao, Kannauj, Auraiya and Banda reported one death each.

As for fresh instances of infection, the highest were reported in Lucknow- 270.

Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday released the detailed point-by-point guidelines ahead of the scheduled reopening of the cinema halls/multiplexe­s/theatres from Thursday (October 15).
