Forced to remain indoors due to Covid-19, many students from classes 8 to 11 utilised their time to better their writing skills with some even turning authors, penning novels or bringing out a collection of their poems. Some others brought out a collection of motivational quotes.

Their lockdown creations are now on sale, at bookstores as well as online. Riya Agrawal, a class 8 student of Maharishi Patanjali Vidya Mandir, brought out a collection of motivational quotes titled: ‘Enchanted: Creating magic through quotes’.

“My book is about happiness, nostalgia, loneliness, love, heartbreak, hope, motivation and success,” said Riya, whose father Jayesh Agrawal is a businessman, mother Anuradha a housewife. Sushmita Kanungo, her school principal, was all praise for the creative effort.

Vijjwal Singh, a class 8 student of St John’s Academy, Karchana, published a novel, which he described as a “technothriller”, whose plot revolves around an international conspiracy. The novel is doing well, with

49 copies sold online while three have been purchased from book stores. “The story is set in a period where the global economy is in ruins, international relations are as sensitive as ever, and all it will take is a little spark to ignite war,” shared 14-year-old Vijjwal, whose parents Vinay Singh and Shipra are teachers at St John’s Academy.

This is Vijjwal’s second novel, his first one ‘The door between life and death’ was published in 2019. He has already started work on his third novel, a science fantasy.

Similarly, Arishh Abraaham, 12, a class 7 student of St Joseph’s College published his first novel ‘Crossdion and the Lively Myths’ in 2019. He released it online and followed it up with a paperback

edition in June 2020.

“The story is about a young Greek-American who is more than happy in his ordinary life when, all too quickly, his world turns upside down,” shares Arishh cleverly building up the suspense.

Fr Thomas Kumar, principal of St Joseph’s College said that the institution was proud of Arishh’s work.
