Ex-AUSU chief lodges complaint with CJI, president of India

Allahabad University former students’ union president and SP leader Richa Singh has submitted a complaint to the chief justice of India, the chief justice of the Allahabad High Court, the National Commission for Women, the National Human Rights Commission and the Uni on Ministry of Education against AU acting vice-chancellor RR Tiwari and other officials of the central varsity administra­tion.

The complaint is with regard to the manner in which she and five other students of AU were detained by the police on October 15 outside the V-C’s office.

On October 15, some students had sat in on a demonstrat­ion outside the vice-chancellor’s office demanding admission to hostels, which are presently closed. They refused to move till 10 pm after which the police had detained Sakshi Yadav, Ekta, Priyanka Gupta, Shivani Gaur, Sharad Shankar Mishra, Satyam Kushwaha and Aneesh Yadav and Richa. Late night police had sent them to jail. On Saturday, three students, including Richa, were released on bail.

Richa has also lodged a complaint with the University Grants

Commission (UGC) in this case apart from the visitor of AU, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

AU PRO Shailendra Mishra said that it was an unfortunat­e incident wherein the protesting students refused to move and allowed the V-C to leave after which the police had to intervene.

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two youths in paddy fields outside a village in Sikarara area of Jaunpur on Friday evening.

The accused are on the run and the police has been unable to make any breakthrou­gh in the case so far.

Police said the victim was returning home after buying medicines from the market when she was allegedly dragged to the paddy fields and raped by youths.

“The victim’s kin informed us that two youths caught the girl as she was returning from a medical store just on the outskirts of the village, forced her to the paddy fields where they reportedly raped her,” a police officer said.

The victim later informed her parents about her ordeal after which the kin along with the victim reached the police station to get their complaint registered against the two accused.

Station house officer (SHO) Angad Prasad Tiwari confirmed that two youths had been named in the rape FIR.

He said case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered and said Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has also been imposed.
