Patients suffering from serious kidney ailments have recovered, beating the Coronavirus successfully and are leading healthy lives as examples of determination and commitment, in Prayagraj.

Be it 40-year-old Deepamala of Georgetown locality of the city or Pradeep Singh of Ghoorpur, or 50-year-old Hridya Narayan of Bhadohi, they have not allowed Covid-19 to pull them down. In the fight against corona, determination and confidence was their greatest weapon. Deepmala of George Town was found Covid-19-positive in August. She was admitted to a private hospital earlier due to a kidney problem. During treatment, it was found that she was Covid-19-positive. But because of her positive outlook and optimistic approach, she defeated the disease in a mere five days. Deepmala, who defeated corona while fighting a kidney problem, says that she kept her faith in herself, God and the doctors treating her.

“Although for a brief moment I did think that everything was over but I kicked that thought out and did not allow the belief of getting healthy again to diminish,” she says.

Do not pay attention to small problems was the key mantra for Pradeep Singh of Ghoorpur who too defeated Covid-19 despite suffering from kidney problems.

In the last week of July, he went to get treated for his kidney ailment and much to his own surprise, found that he was Covid-19-positive. “It came as a shock and a flash crossed my mind that it was all over now. But the love of my family members helped a lot,” he said, adding, “Sometimes I even felt disappointment sweeping through me but I stopped paying attention to it as I do for small problems in life . And soon I tested negative”.

Likewise, 50-year-old Hridya Narayan of Bhadohi who too has been struggling with a kidney problem for the past sometime is another who beat the Covid-19 virus.

“I used to get dialysis at SRN Hospital and when I was told that I am corona positive, I felt total darkness. The thought of separation from loved ones further increased the agony. However, I kept telling myself that there was still a lot more to live for and eventually won the battle,” he recalls with a smile.

Seeing his example, confidence of other patients too increased like that of Jaikishan, a resident of Gopiganj.

Despite being treated through dialysis, he did not give up hope of recovering and soon beat the dreaded virus that has claimed 292 lives and infected 22,110 people in Prayagraj alone till October 16.
