30 deaths, 2,351 fresh Covid cases in UP

Uttar Pradesh’s Covid-19 death toll rose to 6,714 with 30 more fatalities while 2,351 fresh cases pushed the state’s infection tally to 4,59,154 on Tuesday, according to health department data.

Lucknow saw the maximum deaths – seven, Kanpur three, Prayagraj two, Meerut, Bareilly and Agra one each. In all, 19 districts reported deaths in UP.

The state capital also reported the maximum cases – 250, Kanpur 86, Prayagraj 146, Gorakhpur 66, Ghaziabad 140, Gautam Buddh Nagar 135, Meerut 139, Moradabad 95 and Varanasi 79 cases. So far, Lucknow reported 831 deaths and 60,263 cases, including 56,032 patients who had been discharged from hospitals. A total of 462 patients were discharged during the day from different hospitals.

fatality rate is 1.37%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Doctors.

Those who died at the KGMU’s corona ward included 54-year-old man from Aliganj in Lucknow, a 73-year-old man from Lucknow, a 60-year-old man from Hardoi and a 64-yearold woman from Hardoi.

During the day, 41 patients opted for home isolation. So far, 44,458 patients opted for home

isolation in Lucknow, of which 42,312 had recovered. Samples of 6,211 people were taken under the contact tracing exercise.

Fresh cases were reported from Indira Nagar 22, Gomti Nagar 25, Rae Bareli road 17, Ashiana 19, Madiaon 10, Hazratganj 15, Cantt 10, Talkatora 11, Alambagh 10, Chinhat 13, Chowk 10 and Mahanagar 12, according to the district health department.

“Indira Nagar and Gomti Nagar have been reported maximum Covid cases in the state capital,” said Dr Shukla.

The health department in Lucknow began door-to-door survey of people with the help of ANM and ASHA workers. This survey aims at detecting patients of fever or cold who have not been attended by a medical team. The idea is to identify people with Covid symptoms so that a second wave of Covid because of unidentifi­ed patients can be prevented.
