Now, get high security number plates for vehicles till Nov 30
The regional transport office (RTO) has extended the last date of getting high security registration plate till November 30.
The office had, since Monday, stopped all work related to registered vehicles without high security registration plate (HSRP).
“There was no work done all through the day on Monday and Tuesday at RTO office related to already registered vehicles like issuing of fitness certificates, copy of registration, renewal of registration, address change, issuing no objection certificate for vehicles, issuing national or special or temporary permits for operating commercial vehicle etc. HSRP should be installed in vehicles purchased before April 1, 2019 too as all the new vehicles, after this date, are coming with HSRP”, said Alka Shukla, ARTO (enforcement).
Now, vehicle owners have time till November 30 to get their vehicles fitted with HSRP after which no work related to their vehicles would be entertained at RTO office.
The relaxation extended by the RTO office follows the order issued by principal secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
There will be no work of vehicles related to the divisional transport office from December 1 without new number plates, the order said.
Owners have to apply online for a new number plate. The number plate is to be given to automobile dealers.
The city had over 16 lakhs vehicles which have to be fitted
with HSRP.
A high security number plate is a number plate on which all the information about the vehicle as soon as the registration plate is scanned.
It has a hidden microchip which stores all the data pertaining to the vehicle like registration, fitness etc.
“We are facing a tough job of providing HSRP to old and new vehicles alike. As it requires almost a week to get the HSRP, there should be more awareness among the masses”, said Deepak Bhargava, owner of Amitdeep Motors.
Likewise, Alok Srivastava, manager at Hundai Motors showroom said, “We are getting queries from the customers and we have opened a separate counter for the same, people have to understand that they have to apply for HSRP themselves and track the same on their mobile and come to us when the plates are ready.”
