35 more fatalities, 2,402 new cases in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh’s Covid-19 death toll rose to 6,790 on Thursday with 35 more fatalities while 2,402 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 4,63,858, as per the health department.

Lucknow, despite a continuous fall in the number of fresh (daily) cases, reported the maximum 281 cases, while Kanpur logged 57 cases, Prayagraj 143, Gorakhpur 110, Ghaziabad 152, Gautam Buddh Nagar 180, Meerut 133, Moradabad 47, Agra 30, Varanasi 93 and Basti 40.

The state capital also reported the maximum deaths – four, Varanasi three, Meerut, Agra, Prayagraj and Kanpur reported two deaths each. Gorakhpur, Moradabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar reported one death each.

Fresh cases in Lucknow were reported from Indira Nagar 25, Gomti Nagar 27, Alambagh 14, Rae Bareli road 20, Madiaon 11, Hazratganj 10, Talkatora 12, Chinhat 18, Chowk 17, Aliganj 16, Jankipuram 16 and Vikas Nagar 10.

So far, Lucknow had reported 60,912 cases, including 837 deaths and 3,450 patients who were under treatment. “The recovery rate in Lucknow is 92.96%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Doctors.

During the day, 32 more patients opted for home isolation. Till now, 45,037 patients opted for home isolation in Lucknow and 42,752 had recovered so far.

The health department also initiated door-to-door survey, particular­ly in rural areas, with the help of ASHA workers and ANMs. The (ASHA and ANM) have been asked to conduct a survey in their respective areas and fill an online form about people who have symptoms such as fever or any other illness. The data will be monitored at district level and teams will visit such homes, if a case is spotted.
