On Day 1, only 34.2% take SSC JE exam-2019 in UP
PRAYAGRAJ : The junior engineer recruitment examination2019 being conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) started in the state on Tuesday.
This three-day computerbased online examination will continue till October 30. For this, 59 centres have been set up in 11 cities of UP under SSC central region.
There were 7,64,331 candidates who were registered from all parts of the country. They included 1,28,480 candidates from Madhya Pradesh, 40,105 from Bihar and 30123 from UP.
“In terms of UP, a total of 34.21% (10,304) of the registered candidates appeared on the first day of exams which included 42.63% from Prayagraj, which was the second best among the 11 centres of the state, after Jhansi wherein 42.65% of candidates took the exam,” said SSC regional director (central
region), Prayagraj, Rahul Sachan. The exam was held in Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad, Prayagraj and Varanasi, he added.
The least attendance was recorded from Kanpur (25.26%) followed by Meerut (28.43%), Moradabad (29.59%) and Agra (30.84%).
A total of 33.96% of candidates appeared at Lucknow and 34.58% at Varanasi, he said. Maximum 13 examination centres
have been set up in Lucknow. The examination is being conducted at 10 examination centres in Varanasi while eight centres have been made in Prayagraj. Moreover, this examination has been deferred to December in Bihar due to assembly elections in that state.
The examination is of two hours duration and will be conducted in two shifts every day: The first shift is between 10am and 12 noon and the second between 3pm and 5pm.
