Early morning temp drops to 15 degrees C

Gorakhpur 15.8, Hardoi and Barabanki recorded 16 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatur­e in Lucknow is likely to hover around 15 degrees Celsius for the next two-three days, according to India Meteorolog­ical Department (IMD).

The forecast for Lucknow is clear sky with maximum and minimum temperatur­es around 32 and 15 degrees Celsius, respective­ly, said met director JP Gupta on Wednesday. The state weather forecast is mostly dry over the state.

“This is normal. We are not expecting any change in the maximum temperatur­e immediatel­y. Skies are clear after the monsoon has withdrawn. Day temperatur­es will remain high, but the nights will be cooler,” said Gupta.

The overall Covid-19 count in Uttar Pradesh went up to 4,76,034 with 2,049 fresh cases of infection reported on Wednesday even while the death toll reached 6,958 with 18 more fatalities in the last 24 hours.

Lucknow accounted for the maximum number of fresh cases, taking a major jump from 186 reported a day before to 294 new cases on Wednesday.

Lakhimpur Kheri reported 133 new cases, Meerut 116, Prayagraj and Ghaziabad reported 91 cases each, Varanasi 88, Gorakhpur 65, Gautam Buddha Nagar 57, Kanpur 56 and Bareilly 50.

Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Hardoi reported two deaths each and Ghaziabad and Meerut one each, according to the data from the state health department.

Lucknow has the most active cases in the state at 3,274 while Hamirpur has the least active cases at 39.

Till now, the state capital has reported 62,537 cases, including 872 deaths and 58,391 patients have been discharged. The recovery rate in Lucknow is 93.37% now.

The state capital areas from which new cases were reported included Indiranaga­r 21, Gomtinagar 24, Rae Bareli Road 25, Madiaon 14, Alambagh 10, Hasanganj 10, Chowk 19, Jankipuram 10, Cantt 18, Mahanagar 12 and Ashiana 17.

During the day, 255 patients were discharged from different hospitals in the state capital while samples of 5,809 people were taken in a contact-tracing exercise.

Hospitals were allotted to 84 patients of whom 41 opted for home isolation, taking the number of total patients who have chosen home isolation in Lucknow so far to 46,394. Among them, 44,299 have recovered and 2,095 are still in home isolation, said health department officials.
