Police suspect illegal cracker unit at site; accused absconding

Police is investigating if an illegal cracker workshop was being run from the place where one person was killed in a blast in city’s Para area on Tuesday.

An FIR regarding causing death by negligence was registered on the basis of a complaint given by the wife of the deceased.

The blast that killed Sushil happened around 10:40 am on Tuesday. Police said the accused use to store crackers illegally at the place and were planning to sell them during upcoming festive season.

According to the FIR, Sushil Gupta, who died in the blast, worked at a cracker storage and production unit where a fire caused a blast. After the FIR by Gupta’s wife, police registered an FIR against Vijay Gupta and his son Bablu Gupta, owners of the cracker storage unit.

Both the accused booked under section 304A(Causing death by negligence) of IPC are absconding.
