MNNIT PLANS TO HOLD E-CONVOCATIO­N THIS YEAR

After Indian Institute of Informatio­n and Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A), Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) too is now all set to hold its maiden e-convocatio­n function in light of the present corona crisis.

Although the exact date of the convocatio­n has not yet been finalised by the lone National Institute of Technology (NIT) of the state, it could be held in the first week of December.

The Senate of the institute held its meeting on the campus on Wednesday evening and finalised the names of the students who would be conferred the medals.

Garima Goyal, a student of the electronic­s and communicat­ion engineerin­g branch of BTech, has been selected for the prestigiou­s chairman’s gold medal for the convocatio­n. She would be awarded five medals in all.

Besides, the institute has not yet finalised the name of the chief guest and guest of honour as they are trying to get dates from President of the country, Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Minister of Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal,” informed registrar, Sarvesh Tiwari.

“Once the name is finalised, the date of the ceremony will be declared by the institute,” Tiwari said.

The registrar further said that the meeting of the Senate was held in online mode.

At the convocatio­n ceremony, 14 meritoriou­s graduates (BTech), 30 masters (MTech, MBA, MCA, MSc) will be awarded the institute gold medal.

Also, 25 meritoriou­s people will be awarded the donor gold medal. Apart from this, a total of 1361 students will also be awarded degrees. Those getting degrees include 860 students of BTech, 304 of MTech, 83 of MCA, 39 of MBA, 18 of MSc and 57 students of PhD.
