UPEIDA proposes PPP model for Ganga E-way’s ₹22,145 cr civil work
Efforts are being made to gauge the interest of the investors for the model, according to chief executive officer of UPEIDA.
The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) Board on Thursday granted its approval to the procedure for arranging financial resources for the civil construction works of Ganga Expressway.
The cost of civil construction works of the project, pegged at Rs 22,145 crore (including GST), has been approved and PPP (public private partnership) model has been proposed as the first option. Efforts were being made to gauge the interest of the investors for the model, Awanish Kumar Awasthi,
chief executive officer of UPEIDA, said.
At its 61st meeting, the board also granted approval for the opening of UPEIDA offices in Aligarh and Kanpur under the Defence Industrial Corridor project. The members of the board were informed that construction of Bundelkhand Expressway was going on at a rapid pace and about 21 % of the total physical progress of the project had been completed
The members of the board of directors and officers of UPEIDA also attended the meeting chaired by Awasthi.
The board of directors granted its approval to the expression of draft interest (EOI) prepared by UPEIDA on the basis of records prevailing in the National Highways Authority for obtaining interest from investors for the Ganga Expressway project. The total cost of Ganga Expressway project is Rs. 36,410 crore and the cost of land acquisition is estimated at Rs 9,255 crore. Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao,
Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj will benefit from the project. About 7,800 hectare land was required for the project, Awasthi said.
Under the Defence Industrial Corridor Project, plots have been allotted to 12 industrial units in Aligarh and one in Kanpur district. The process of allotment to the remaining units is in progress. Till the office and community building of UPEIDA is constructed, a building is being rented in Aligarh for officers and employees. The board granted its approval to the proposal, Awasthi said.
NEW AGENCY FOR AGRALUCKNOW EXPRESSWAY TOLL PLAZAS
For the collection of toll on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, UPEIDA has established two main toll plazas and 15 ramp plazas. The board approved the selection of the new agency, Sahakar Global Limited, for the operation of these toll plazas, toll collection, providing five ambulances and ten patrolling vehicles.
