Kashi now inspires on development front: Yogi
Chief minister says Shri Kashi Vishwanath Corridor would be an amazing and unimaginable one once it was completed
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said Kashi, known for its spirituality and culture, was now becoming a source of inspiration for development as well since a number of projects were being implemented here for the all- round growth of the city in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wishes.
At present, 136 major projects worth Rs 9,259.71 crore are in progress in Varanasi.
Among these projects, the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Corridor would be an amazing and unimaginable one once it was completed, Adityanath said.
The chief minister was speaking after a review meeting in which he took stock of various projects in Varanasi. He also conducted an on-site inspection
of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project.
Fifty-three projects worth Rs 1,325 crore are scheduled to be completed here by the year-end. The remaining 78 projects will be wrapped up by December next year. Four-laning of the Sultanpur-Varanasi road worth Rs 804 crore and widening of the Ghaghra bridge-Varanasi section worth Rs 785 core will be
completed by end of this financial year. Likewise, the VaranasiGhazipur four-lane project worth Rs 868.50 crore will be completed by March next year.
The chief minister said it was a matter of pride that Varanasi topped the list of cities in implementation of the SVANidhi scheme. He said although tourism, business and industrial activities had started picking up
pace in Varanasi, it was necessary to remain vigilant as the Covid-19 pandemic had not ended yet.
Social distancing and wearing of mask were necessary till the vaccine became ready, he said. The comprehensive arrangements made to deal with the pandemic situation had sent a positive message, the chief minister added.
