15 ROADS TO BE WIDENED, BEAUTIFIED UNDER SMART CITY INITIATIVE
Under the Smart City project, 15 more city roads will get bus stoppages and bus shelters for the convenience of commuters. Also footpaths and dividers would be made on roads more than 24 metres wide and parking arrangements would be done on 11 roads, said a Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) official.
The PDA has started working on the plans besides completing the road widening projects under which 15 roads of the city will be widened.
The authorities have marked the roads and have started demolition drive. Besides carrying out demolition drives on Mission Road, Lohia Road and Pannalal Road, construction of roads have started while demolition on other roads will be started after Dipawali. As per the plan, besides widening, footpaths and drainage system will also be constructed at these roads. The project includes parking arrangements at nearly all roads that are being widened. Officials said beautification work of the crossings on the concerned routes will also be done while statues of national icons will be installed. Moreover, plantation will be carried out at both sides of the roads for greenery. Roads that are to be widened are Lohia Marg, Clive Road, Stretchy Road, Cooper Road, Tashkand Marg, Tej Bahadur Sapru Marg, Kamla Nehru Road, Mumfordganj Road, Babu Vindheyashri Road, Shobhnath Singh Road, Katra part second, Mission Road, Hashimpur Road, Subhash Nagar Road, Pannalal Road. The roads that are to be widened 24 metres with a divider are Shobhnath Singh Road, Dr Lohia Marg, Tashkand Marg and Kamla Nehru Road part one. PDA zonal officer Alok Pandey said the road widening project is underway on 15 roads of the city. Parking places are also being identified on some of the routes, he added.
