LUCKNOW : Now, all serious patients as well as those suffering from influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) visiting government and private hospitals in the state will necessarily be tested for Covid-19 in a bid to control the possible further spread of the infection.

Chief secretary, Rajendra Kumar Tiwari issued directions in this regard to officials during a virtual meeting he chaired to review Coviod-19 here. Laying emphasis on the need for preventive measures, the CS asked officials to enlist administration, police as well as the civil society to encourage people to regularly wash their hands, keep physical distance and cover face while in public.

“The message that the danger of coronavirus still exist and people should not lower the guards must reach every house,” he said.

The CS said a review of all Covid deaths must be carried out to draw lessons to check avoidable deaths in future.

He said qualitative treatment, proper surveillance and prompt and timely treatment could all go a long way in saving lives of Covid patients.

Tiwari told officials to ensure regular monitoring of patients put in home isolation with doctors to visit them on the first, fourth and seventh days as per the pre-decided schedule.

No patient, he alerted, should die in home isolation.

“Any patient who is in home isolation must be rushed to hospital as soon as he shows serious symptoms,” he said. He also ordered cleanliness drive in localities from where dengue cases were being reported.

It was told in the meeting that a total 1788 positive cases and 25 deaths had been reported in the state during the last 24 hours. Presently, there were 23,035 active cases.
