In association with the Brahma Kumari organization, the Lucknow University will establish a Happy Thinking Laboratory during its upcoming centenary celebrations.

To be established in the department of psychology, this lab will work for the psychospiritual development of students, their good mental health and making their life joyful and energetic so that they may develop their abilities to achieve their goals.

On a virtual platform, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Prof AK Rai, vice chancellor, LU, and Dr BK Mrityunjaya, chairman of Rajyog Education and Research Foundation (RERF), Mount Abu, Rajasthan.

Prof Madhurima Pradhan, head of the department, LU said, “In this lab, the students will identify the power of thought that arises in their brain. The skill of making negative thoughts into positive, overcoming undesirable habits and behaviour will also be taught in this laboratory.”

“Students will also be given tips on the art of living stressfree, with lasting happiness in life,” said Dr BK Mritunjaya.

LU vice chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai assured to provide full support for its successful operation and commented on the importance of sustained happiness in an educational institution. He spoke about how the sole purpose of a university was not the simple transfer of information and curriculum, but holistic development of the student.

Madhurima Pradhan, head of psychology department said, “The lab is in line of the LU’s emphasis on happiness curriculum. In happy thinking lab, students will learn in real sense the meaning of spirituality, that is to connect with inner source of happiness and bliss, to explore new avenues even in worst circumstances, to accept the challenges of life, to get rid of negative thoughts, to infuse positivity within self, others around.”

Students from other departments can also opt for these generic courses for their skill enhancement, according to the university administration.
