A 21-member Gurjar delegation, led by Himmat Singh, met Rajasthan sports minister Ashok Chandna and director general of police ML Lathar on Friday, and pressed for implementation of the 14-point agreement signed with the state government on October 31.

Himmat Singh, the leader of a committee formed by 80 Gurjar villages in Bayana block of Bharatpur district, was opposed to the agitation launched by Gurjar Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti leader Kirori Singh Bainsla and his son Vijay Bainsla at Peelpura village on November 1.

The agitation over reservation in jobs and education, which continued for 11 days, was called off on Thursday after an agreement between the Rajasthan government and Kirori Singh Bainsla. The ministerial sub-committee had signed an agreement with Himmat Singhled delegation on October 31.

“We had entered into a written 14-point agreement with the state government on October 31, so we urged the minister and DGP for its implementation,” Himmat Singh said. “Minister Chandana and DGP have given assurance for implementation of the agreement for which a meeting will be held after Diwali.” He said that the main points of the agreement include giving ₹5 lakh compensation and a government job to a family member of those who were killed in police action in different agitations over the years, granting regular pay scale to 1,252 candidates who have completed a two-year probation in government jobs, withdrawal of police cases against protesters and other demands pertaining to education of Gurjar students.
