UPPCL MD told to personally monitor meter malfunctio­ning complaints

LUCKNOW : Energy minister Shrikant Sharma has asked the UP Power Corporatio­n Ltd (UPPCL) chairman to personally monitor and ensure the redressal of complaints with regard to malfunctio­ning of meters. Sharma said he called up the chairman expressing displeasur­e over complaints about jumping of units in the meters from all over the state and asked him to personally monitor such complaints.

Giving the informatio­n here on Friday, Sharma said that he called up the chairman expressing displeasur­e over complaints about jumping of units in the meters from different parts of the state and asked him to personally monitor such complaints and ensure their disposal to consumers’ satisfacti­on. The minister urged the consumers to lodge their meter related complaints on the 1912 helpline number. “We have asked discoms to immediatel­y install check meters at the consumers’ premises in the event of complaints about meter running fast,” he said.

Sharma said the energy department had launched a special drive for villages to provide uninterrup­ted power to feeders that reported less than 15% line losses. The department, he said, would also enhance capacity of transforme­rs up to 40%.

The minister appealed to consumers to pay their bills on time to get better services but also asked officials to thinks of disconnect­ing power supply of only those consumers who had not paid their bills for more than three months.
