Now take a 3D virtual tour of LU at home

LUCKNOW : With the help of advancemen­t in three dimensiona­l scanning technology, one can now take a virtual tour of Lucknow University online from any part of the world soon.

Experts from the Lucknow-based Remote Sensing Applicatio­n Centre are using state of the art technology to scan the iconic buildings of the old campus of Lucknow University which will be used to create a 3-D simulation of the entire campus that can be accessed online.

LUCKNOW: With the help of advancemen­t in three -dimensiona­l scanning technology, one can now take a virtual tour of Lucknow University online from any part of the world soon.

Experts from the Lucknowbas­ed Remote Sensing Applicatio­n Centre are using state of the art technology to scan the iconic buildings of the old campus of Lucknow University which will be used to create a 3-D simulation of the entire campus that can be accessed online.

A team of experts displayed the technology at the stall of Remote Sensing Applicatio­n Centre during the science festivals held at the university on Friday.

The science festival was part of the ongoing centennial year celebratio­ns of Lucknow University.

The team will first capture the grandeur of the Arts Qudrangle located in the centre of the old campus and is the epicenter of most of the cultural events of the university.

Sangharsh Rao, an expert from the Remote Sensing Applicatio­ns Centre, informed further about the technology,”We have state of the art laser-based scanner that will be used to make a real life 3D model of the building which is to the scale. It can be used for various purposes and also to give a 3- virtual tour.”

Ramesh Sharma,47, an executive in a multi-brand retail chain in the USA and an alumni of LU said,”A virtual tour of the Lucknow University will be good. It will be existing to see how it turns out.”
