Rajnath: New Bharat to be gyanwan, dhanwan and charitrawan
LUCKNOW : The centennial celebrations of Lucknow University concluded with the Foundation Day event organised on Wednesday. Defence minister Rajnath Singh and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath joined the programme virtually.
Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma and minister of state for higher education Neelima Katiyar joined the program as the chief guest and the guest of honour. After their welcome, ‘kulgeet’ of LU was presented.
In his speech, Rajnath Singh congratulated the university for completing 100 years and said this was a major landmark, which only a few universities in India had achieved. He said many illustrious personalities such as Birbal Sahni and Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma had studied in this university.
The defence minister mentioned about the role of youths as corona warriors in fighting Covid-19. He spoke about ‘atmanirbhar’ Bharat and said this new Bharat would be “gyanwan, dhanwan and charitrawan.”
Talking about improvement in various sectors, he mentioned the education sector, which was going to witness significant change on complete implementation of the new education policy, which was the perfect blend of ancient and modern India.
He said while the NEP would teach “how to think”, there was emphasis on teaching mother language and vocational studies (starting from Class 6).
Some illustrious alumni of LU – singer Malini Awasthi, UP finance minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, scholar Prashant Mishra, Niti Aayog V-C Rajiv Kumar, cricketer Suresh Raina, and cardiologist Naresh Trehan were felicitated with Smriti Chinh.
