ROB to connect Baghada, Salori areas to Teliarganj in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ : Residents of Baghada and Salori localities in the Sangam city will be freed from perennial traffic jams as a railway overbridge (ROB) will soon be constructed to connect these areas to Teliarganj locality.
In its meeting on Tuesday, the state cabinet approved the Rs 53 crore project.Deputy chief minister shared this news through a tweet on Wednesday.
For a long time, an ROB was being demanded by the residents of these two localities which is dominated by the students coming to the city from other districts.
Also, students and staff of two eminent educational institutions namely Institute of Engineering and Rural Technology (IERT) and Iswar Saran Degree College face regular traffic jams because of the two manned-level crossing which falls on the main route connecting these localities to the other side of the city.
These railway crossings are on PhaphamauPrayag train route (under northern railway).
Because of regular trains on the route, the railway crossings are found closed quite often. Another railway crossing, on the same route and joining Govindpur locality to rest of the city, has been closed following construction of an ROB during Kumbh 2019.
After the cabinet approval, the bridge construction department has also started its preparations. Project manager SP Bagri said
SP BAGRI SAID THIS RAILWAY LINE HAS LESS THAN 1 LAKH TRAIN VEHICLE UNITS, THEREFORE, UP GOVERNMENT ALONE WILL BEAR THE ENTIRE COST OF THE ROB AS PER SET RULES
the proposed railway overbridge would be 781 metre in length. Actual construction work and rest of the process would commence following the government order in this regard, he said.
After the mandate, the bridge construction department will start its work, he added. He said this railway line has less than 1 lakh train vehicle units, therefore, UP government alone will bear the entire cost of the ROB as per set rules.
The official further said the approval of the army is also necessary in the construction of the ROB. A no objection certificate has been sought as the area of ROB comes under the army. The project manager said a proposal had been sent to the ministry of defence for approval from the army. “It is expected that the army will give its approval soon,” he said.
