LUCKNOW : Now admission to engineering colleges across Uttar Pradesh will be done through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will not be conducting UP State Entrance Examination (UPSEE) for B Tech course from academic session 2021-22, an official said.

There are 73,151 B Tech seats in 204 engineering colleges across the state. This year, nearly 75,000 candidates appeared in B Tech examination.

“All aspiring engineering students will have to appear only in the admission test of JEE unlike the past practice where candidates had to appear in UPSEE to seek admission in engineering colleges of UP,” said AKTU registrar Nand Lal Singh.

The move was initiated on the directive of the state government that wants to save students from appearing in multiple examinations and also it will help institutes get students from diverse states.

Candidates are advised to download the national test practice app from Google play store and take mock test so as to learn about time management during the examination. For more details, candidates may login www.upsee.nic.in or call at toll free number 1800 1800 161 or 0522 2336805.

However, the AKTU has not yet decided as to how it will do admission for several other undergraduate courses like B Pharma, bachelor of architecture, bachelor of design, bachelor of fashion and design, an official said.

Meanwhile, the JEE (Main) for 2021 could be held in February instead of the conventional January as the NTA and the education ministry consider ways to put the academic cycle back on track. A final decision will be taken in this regard in the coming days.
