Adityanath reviews Dev Deepawali preparations in Varanasi
VARANASI: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday reviewed preparations for the Dev Deepawali celebrations to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi on November 30.
The review was done on a day which saw a rehearsal wherein thousands of earthen lamps were lit at the Ganga ghats and on the Rajghat Bridge.
The chief minister said the state government will leave no stone unturned to make the Dev Deepawali celebrations “divya” (divine) and “bhavya” (grand).
“This time, the presence of PM Modi will grace the celebrations,” he added.
The chief minister inspected the venue in Khajuri village where the PM will address around 10,000 BJP workers. Thereafter, he reached Rajghat and instructed officials to ensure proper arrangement at the ghats.
Next, he boarded a cruise at Rajghat and reached Ravidas Ghat. He also offered prayers to Sant Ravidas at the Sant Ravidas temple.
He held a meeting with officials at the circuit house. The chief minister also inspected the ongoing Kashi Vishwanath corridor project.
Mentioning the Dev Deepawali
preparations, chief development officer Madhusudan said a seven-kilometre stretch of the eastern bank of the river had been divided in 20 zones. Officers had been deployed to look after the arrangements and ensure that at least five lakh earthen lamps were lit on the eastern bank of the Ganga on Dev Deepawali, he added.
Likewise, over six lakh earthen lamps will be lit on the ghats on the western bank of the river.
NO BOATING ON NOV 30 Boatmen have decided not to operate their boats in Varanasi on November 30 on the occasion of Dev Deepawali in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The boatmen took the decision at a meeting held at Dashashwamedh Ghat, said Shambhu Manjhi of the boatmen community.
