Many appear for CAT on Sunday; say difficulty level was moderate
LUCKNOW: A section of candidates, who appeared in the Common Admission Test (CAT) for various post graduate and fellow programmes of IIMs, at Lucknow centres on Sunday, found the difficulty level to be moderate.
Shrestra Mehrotra of Ambedkar Nagar and Kritika Prajapati of Ballia said they were little nervous ahead of the test. Ujwal Kumar Rai, a candidate felt the difficulty level was moderate. Shristi Srivastava shared similar views.
A number of outstation candidates arrived in Lucknow a day before to write the admission test that was held in three shifts of two hours duration (40 minutes for three sections) unlike last year when test used to be held in two shifts of three hours duration each (an hour for each section).
The three sections were: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension section, the Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning section, and the Quantitative Ability. There was no change in the sequence of sections and candidates were not allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.
Tutorials to understand the format of the test was made available on the CAT website from October.
“Candidates had worked on the tutorials available on the CAT website well in advance,” Prof Himanshu Rai, director at IIM Indore said.
CAT 2020 scores are allowed to be used by listed non-IIM member institutions as well. A list of such institutions is provided on the CAT website. IIMs have no role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions.
