Pratapgarh records 59.25% polling for Lko Div teachers’ seat, 33.93% for graduate seat

PRAYAGRAJ: Polling for the Allahabad-Jhansi Division graduate constituen­cy seat was held on Tuesday. In Prayagraj, a total of 37.59% polling was registered while Kaushambi recorded 51.37% voters exercising their franchise, officials said.

Meanwhile, in neighbouri­ng Pratapgarh district, which is part of the Lucknow Division graduate constituen­cy seat as well as Lucknow Division Teachers constituen­cy seat, a total of 33.93% and 59.25% polling, respective­ly, was registered, they added.

Counting of Allahabad-Jhansi Division graduate constituen­cy seat will take place at Jhansi while that of Lucknow Division graduate constituen­cy seat and Lucknow Division Teachers’ constituen­cy seat will be held in Lucknow on December 3, officials said.

Sixteen candidates were in the fray on this seat including Ajay Kumar Singh (Indian National Congress), Man Singh Yadav (Samajwadi Party), Yagya Dutt Sharma (Bharatiya Janata Party), Uttam Kumar Maurya (Jan Adhikar Party), Shabnam Soni (Bundelkhan­d Kranti Dal), besides 11 independen­t including Anil Kumar, Amit Gupta Urf Neetu Bhaiya, Arvind Singh Parmar, Chandralok Singh Patel, Pankaj Manu Vishwakarm­a, Raghunath Dwivedi, Ramesh Chander Dubey, Vineet Kumar, Vinod Kumar Pandey, Hari Prakash Yadav and Harishchan­dra Singh Patel.

In Prayagraj, 63,729 voters were eligible to cast their votes to elect their MLC. This included 44,302 men and 19,427 women voters but just around 37.59% of them turned up to vote at the 46 polling centres and 116 polling booths set up for the exercise.

No untoward incident was reported in the district during the polling, informed ADM (administra­tion) Vijay Shankar Dubey. In Kaushambi, out of a total 10,514 voters just 5,442 voted. In Pratapgarh, for Lucknow Division Teachers constituen­cy seat, a total of 59.25% voters out of the total 5,569 voters exercised their franchise while for Lucknow Division graduate constituen­cy seat, a mere 33.93% voters out of Pratapgarh’s total 37,201 voters turned out to vote.
