Man drowns at Sangam

PRAYAGRAJ: A student preparing for competitiv­e examinatio­ns drowned at Sangam late on Wednesday evening. Jal Police divers launched a search for him but to no avail.

SK Chaudhary’s son, Vishal, 23, a resident of Sulem Sarai area, was preparing for competitiv­e examinatio­n after completing B Tech. Late on Wednesday evening, Vishal and his friends Aseem, Somesh, Yash and Ronit went to Sangam in their car. Vishal went into water to take a bath but was carried away by the current.

His friends tried to take him out using ropes and bamboo poles but to no avail. Daraganj police reached the spot and called the divers. A search operation was launched but Vishal could not be found. Jal Police in-charge Kadedeen Yadav said efforts were on to search for the youth.

Properties of murder accused to be attached Dhumanganj police made announceme­nts for the attachment of property of a person accused of killing a woman. The accused is absconding for long and action was taken on the instructio­ns of the court.

A non bailable warrant was issued against the accused Mohammad Athar and action has been taken under section 82 of IPC, police said.

One Mohd Rais’s wife, Baby, was shot at near Harwara area in November 2019. Investigat­ions revealed that Mohd Rais himself was involved in the attack along with Mohammad Athar. Rais was arrested while Athar is still on the run. SHO Dhumanganj Arun Chaturvedi said that the properties of Athar will be attached if he fails to surrender.

Body of missing trader found in Kanpur

Body of a grocer missing from Kunda area of Pratapgarh was found in Ghatampur area of Kanpur district on Thursday morning. Pratapgarh police along with grocer’s kin have left for Kanpur to bring the body. The grocer has gone missing under suspicious circumstan­ces. Exact circumstan­ces of the man’s death could be ascertaine­d only after receiving post mortem report, police said. Subinspect­or at Kunda police station Ajay Kumar said further investigat­ions will be carried out after receiving postmortem report.
