FIVE IPS OFFICERS AMONG 250 COPS FACING THE MUSIC ON GRAFT CHARGES
LUCKNOW : Forty-three cases were registered under corruption charges against police personnel, including five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, while two other IPS officers were suspended over corruption charges since January this year in the state, a senior officer at the UP police headquarters said.
“In these cases, action has been taken against over 250 police personnel and officers so far in 2020,” he added.
Two days ago, a police inspector and 27 other policemen were booked under prevention of corruption charges for allegedly letting off cow smugglers in Kushinagar district. The allegations of corruption against the inspector were made by a BJP legislator in July 2019. They were into enquired by the anti-corruption organisation before registering a FIR at Kasya police station of Kushinagar.
“Moreover, efforts are being made for the arrest of former SP Mahoba Mani Lal Patidar, a 2014-batch IPS officer, after he was suspended on September 9 on corruption charges,” he said.
The officer also said two 2003batch promoted IPS officers Arvind Sen and DC Dubey were booked on corruption charges over their alleged involvement in multi-crore fraud with an Indore businessman Manjeet Singh Bhatia wherein Bhatia was promised a contract of the animal husbandry department.
He said vigilance had registered an FIR against 2010-batch IPS officer Himanshu Kumar and 2011-batch IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma. Besides, the state government had ordered vigilance inquiry against 2006-batch IPS officer Abhishek Dixit after he was suspended on graft charges while he was posted as SSP Prayagraj on September 8, he added. The official said another promoted IPS officer Anant Deo was also placed under suspension for allegedly patronising gangster Vikas Dubey.
