1,940 NEW COVID CASES, 23 MORE DEATHS IN STATE

LUCKNOW: The state capital reported 256 fresh Covid cases on Saturday while Uttar Pradesh’s Covid tally reached 5,53, 012 with 1940 new cases during the day. With 23 more fatalities, the death toll in the state stood at 7,900.

“Till now, 5,22,867 patients have been discharged and the state has a recovery rate of 94.50%,” said Amit Mohan Prasad, additional chief secretary medical health, in a press conference.

“There are 22,245 active cases in the state while 2,01,28,312 Covid samples have been tested so far. Of them, 1,67,938 samples were tested in the last 24 hours,” he added.

In Lucknow, the areas where fresh cases surfaced include Indira Nagar 27, Gomti Nagar 32, Rae Bareli Road 18,Chowk 10, Ashiana 16,Alambagh 10, Mahanagar 10, Vikas Nagar 10 and Cantonment 10.

With this, Lucknow, which has 6.7% case positivity rate, has so far reported total 73,101 cases of which 68,684 have been discharged while 1,024 corona patients succumbed to SarsCoV-2 infection.

“Lucknow has a recovery rate of 93.95%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, Secretary General, Association of International Doctors.

During the day, 344 patients were discharged while samples of 11,338 people were taken under the contact tracing exercise, said Yogesh Raghuvanshi, spokesperson for the office of chief medical officer, Lucknow.

Meanwhile, Kanpur reported 60 cases, Ghaziabad 225, Gautam Buddh Nagar 141, Meerut 132, Saharanpur 62, Prayagraj 52 and Varanasi 114. Also, Lucknow reported maximum four fatalities taking the death toll to 1,024. Kanpur and Varanasi reported two deaths each while one death each was reported in Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Gorakhpur, Meerut and Moradabad districts.
