LUCKNOW : Stating that his government had successfully carried out recruitment of 69,000 assistant teachers in primary and upper primary schools across the state in the most transparent manner, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said it was a big achievement.

Giving away appointment letters to remaining 36,590 successful candidates virtually from Lucknow, Yogi said, “The appointment process was done in the most transparent manner without any discrimination on the lines of caste or gender. Hence, both the Supreme Court and the high court upheld our decision to select the most eligible and qualified candidates as teachers.”

In October, the state government had given appointment letters to 31,277 teachers. With this, the Yogi government has now completed the recruitment of all 69,000 assistant teachers who have been posted in schools where there are either no teachers or just one teacher.

While the chief minister gave appointment letters to five candidates in Lucknow, the remaining candidates received their appointment letters in their respective districts from ministers and MLAs.

“Of the 69,000 assistant

teachers, more than 28,000 are women. I am happy that their parents supported them in higher studies which eventually helped them get a government job,” the chief minister said while congratulating the appointed teachers.

He said had people not taken this matter to the court, his government would have completed the appointment process a year ago. “But a few people with vested interests took the matter to court which delayed the process. As a result of this delay, candidates had to wait for a long time and students were deprived of quality teaching,” the CM added.

Yogi also asked teachers to keep their schools ready for students to start physical classes as and when the government announced their reopening.

“Until then, they must carry out online teaching, visit villages to interact with students and help them overcome difficulties they are facing in Covid times,” he said.

The CM further said teaching students in primary school was much difficult as compared to the role and responsibilities of secondary and higher education teachers because primary teachers were given the responsibility to lay foundation of students.

Yogi said with the appointment of 69,000 assistant teachers, his government had completed the task of appointing 3.5 lakh people under Mission Rozgar. In times to come, more appointment will be done in other departments, he added.
