LUCKNOW: The number of healthcare workers who will get Covid vaccine shots in the first phase in Lucknow has crossed the 40,000-mark and is still counting.

As of now, 50 hospitals out of the 750 private hospitals listed with the health department, are yet to submit details of their staff.

In all, 750 private and 205 government healthcare establishments have been listed by the office of chief medical officer (CMO) of Lucknow. About 200 government facilities have also submitted their data.

Over 25,000 private hospitals’ and about 15,000 government health facility staff have been listed till now. “The list of healthcare workers will be finalised in a couple of days. We are also focusing on ensuring that cold chain space is ready by December 15,” said CMO Dr Sanjay Bhatnagar.

Lucknow needs 4,689 litre cold chain space for vaccine storage of which 1,138 litre space is available and 3,551 litre space is being created.

Health officials have asked the remaining hospitals to furnish staff details at the earliest. “It is possible that some hospitals might have stopped services. We will check and remove their names only after ensuring that there is no one working there,” said a senior health official.

The last date for submitting list of names by hospitals was November 27 but with a number of them yet to submit the same, reminders are being sent.

“We wish to ensure all healthcare workers are covered, as planned by the government,” said Dr MK Singh, in charge of routine immunisation in Lucknow.
