Yogi reviews Magh Mela, Sant Samagam preparations
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reviewed preparations for the forthcoming Magh Mela in Prayagraj and Sant Samagam in Vrindavan.
The chief minister ordered the best of arrangements for pilgrims and visitors with all Covid-19 safety protocols in place.
Maga Mela is scheduled from January 14 to March 11 while Sant Samagam’s dates are from February 16 to March 28.
In a meeting held at his official residence, Yogi said that considering the high significance and importance of the events they should be organised with a high standard of cleanliness, sanitation, orderliness, and complete adherence to the Covid-19 protocols, said a press statement from his office.
He asked officers concerned to ensure cleanliness and good flow of Ganga in Prayagraj and Yamuna in Mathura. He asked the departments concerned to coordinate well amongst themselves and also asked for weekly and fortnightly review at the chief secretary level.
Yogi made an appeal to the pilgrims coming to Magh Mela and Sant Samagam to adhere to Covid safety protocols. “The state government is very sensitive to the health and safety of the devotees. Covid surveillance teams would be active in the mela area all the time. If a person is found to be Covid positive in the organising area, then the person should be sent to the hospital immediately for quarantine and contact tracing should be done,” the CM said.
For better surveillance and control, a command and control centre should be set up at Vrindavan, Mathura like Prayagraj’s integrated command and control centre, Yogi told officers concerned.
Among those who attended the meeting were chief secretary RK Tiwari and Uttar Pradesh Braj Tirtha Vikas Parishad vice president Shailja Kant Mishra
