LUCKNOW : The seat of the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday shifted to Gorakhpur for three days as policy makers, including chief minister Yogi Adityanath and almost his entire cabinet, senior government officials led by chief secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari and experts will do brainstorming during this period there to deliberate on a strategy for the comprehensive development of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

“A national webinar-cumseminar will be organised from December 10 to 12 on the Gorakhpur University campus under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath to prepare a blueprint of the overall development of Purvanchal,” said a state government spokesperson.

The chief minister will inaugurate the event at 5pm on December 10.

The national webinar-cumseminar on the development of Purvanchal will discuss “strategy and future directions” and will prepare the road map for

development in more than four dozen sessions in five sectors: primary, manufacturing, service, social and water.

“In every session, the ministers of the state government, senior officials and subjectmatter experts of foreign countries will create a road map for sustainable development,” he said.

During this period, the focus will be on doubling the income of farmers, development of the manufacturing and service sector and new possibilities of employment, social empowerment and making Purvanchal prosperous through water management.

On the second day on December 11, from 10.30 am to 1.30pm, the chief minister will hold separate meetings with all ministers, all MPs and MLAs of Purvanchal to discuss the development of the region.

CM Yogi will be present as the chief guest at the concluding session of the national webinar and seminar on December 12 from 4pm. Union minister of state for AYUSH (independent charge) Shripad Yasho Naik will be present as the special guest at the concluding session.

“In 1962, the then MP of Ghazipur, Vishwanath Gahamri, in his first address to Parliament, had put the real picture of the entire Purvanchal’s plight by keeping Ghazipur at the centre. At that time, the entire Parliament cried with Gahamri. Since then, this part of eastern Uttar Pradesh was considered backward and sick,” the spokesman said.

“Things started to change only after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014. And this got a further push since Yogi Adityanath became the chief minister. Now, slowly, the identity of Purvanchal has started changing,” he claimed.
