Diesel, electricity worth ₹118 cr saved by NCR
PRAYAGRAJ: High speed diesel and electrical energy worth Rs 118 crore was saved by North Central Railway (NCR), courtesy its energy-saving initiatives.
As a part of energy conservation efforts, 11 MWp solar power plants on roofs of office buildings and other railway establishments have been commissioned over NCR. Likewise, 338 railway stations, 265 service buildings, all workshops and locomotive sheds and 24,958 residential quarters of NCR have also been illuminated with 100% LED fittings, informed NCR chief public relations officer Ajeet Kumar Singh. Around 1,200 passenger coaches of NCR are already equipped with LED fittings. To save electricity, 1320 3-star and above rated air conditioners and 640 energy-efficient pumps have been installed over the last two years over NCR. Also, more than 14,000 energy efficient fans and electronic fan regulators have been provided further contributing in these efforts, he added.
The result of these efforts gain importance as NCR is celebrating ‘Energy Conservation Week’ from December 7 to 14, 2020 and Energy Conservation Day is all set to be observed on December 14. NCR’s Agra, Jhansi and Prayagraj divisions have put up banners, posters and stickers carrying the message of energy conservation. An energy conservation jingle is also being played at various stations over NCR. Video clips portraying energy conservation messages are being played at railway stations equipped with digital display arrangement.
Besides an awareness campaign, an energy conservation drive has also been launched from December 7 to 14 with intensive inspections by officers and supervisors of energy conservation measures taken at different work centres of NCR, CPRO shared.
Further, on December 14, on the occasion of Energy Conservation Day, exhibitions and webinars etc shall also be organised over NCR.
