WOMAN GANGRAPED BY FOUR, ONE HELD

PRAYAGRAJ: A woman working with an orchestra band was allegedly gangraped by four persons late Saturday night. The woman approached Jhunsi police and lodged an FIR against the accused on Sunday.

SP trans-Ganga Dhawal Jaiswal said on the complaint of woman, an FIR has been registered and one of the accused arrested. Medical examinatio­n of the woman was being carried out and a hunt had been launched to nab other accused, he added. In her complaint, the 26-year-old woman of Jaunpur district said that one Jitendra of Kaushambi lured her to Jhunsi area on pretext of providing her job in some orchestra group. Jitendra took her to a lodge in Katka where he and his three unidentifi­ed accomplice­s gangraped her. The woman managed to escape from the lodge on Sunday and reached Jhunsi police station. Police teams carried out raids and arrested Jitendra while others are still at large.

One held for celebrator­y firing PRAYAGRAJ: Nawabganj police of trans-Ganga arrested a person and seized his licensed gun after a video of a woman opening fire during a marriage function went viral on social media platforms and WhatsApp groups. The woman seen in the video is still to be arrested, police said. SP (trans-Ganga) Dhawal Jaiswal said investigat­ions in connection with the viral video revealed that the woman identified as Puja Agarwal was firing from the licensed gun of her relative Vikram Agarwal of Daniyalpur in Lalgopalga­nj during a marriage function at a guest house a few days back. On a tip off on Sunday, police teams arrested Vikram and recovered the licen sed firearm from his possession. An FIR was lodged against him under arms act.
