UP’s Covid tally at 5,66,728, Lko’s daily count below 200

The state has reported 8,083 deaths till now, including 14 fresh fatalities, say health department officials

LUCKNOW: The state capital’s daily Covid-19 count fell steeply on Monday, with the fresh cases dipping to a 182-day while the UP’s Covid count reached 56, 6,728 with 1,229 fresh cases today.

The state has reported 8,083 deaths till now, including 14 fresh fatalities, said health officials.

Lucknow had crossed 200mark on July 16 when it reported 308 fresh cases. On July 15, there were 197 cases. Since then, the fresh cases in the state capital kept increasing. On September 18, it reached its peak of 1,244 fresh cases. However, the daily count is coming down, but gradually.

Among the cities Lucknow reported maximum 182 fresh cases while Kanpur reported 54 cases, Prayagraj 66, Gaziabad 69, Gautam Budha Nagar 89, Meerut 67 and Varanasi 56.

Meanwhile, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gautam Budha Nagar and Meerut reported one death each while Prayagraj and Varanasi reported two deaths each due to Covid-19 infection, as per the health department’s data.

During the day, 260 patients were discharged in Lucknow while samples of 7,407 people were taken for Covid test under the contact tracing exercise.

“Lucknow has reported total 75,210 cases of which 71,186 have recovered. The city’s recovery rate is 94.64%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Doctors. Lucknow has till now reported 1,056 deaths and tested over 12-lakh samples.

Fresh cases were reported from Indira Nagar (10), Aliganj

(12), Gomti Nagar (16), Thakurganj (12),Rae Bareilly road (10), Chowk (14) and Talkatora (11).

“The case positivity rate in Lucknow is 5.9%,” said Yogesh Raghuvansh­i, spokespers­on of the office of the chief medical officer, Lucknow.

Two more deaths, 66 fresh cases in Prayagraj PRAYAGRAJ : Two more death due to Covid-19 were reported in Prayagraj on Monday, taking the death toll due to Sars-CoV-2 infection in the district to 362, said district health officials.

Meanwhile, 66 more people tested positive for the virus,

taking the tally of corona infected people here to 27,351. However, four patients were also discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Now, the number of patients discharged in the district after recovery has gone up to 6,574.

Besides, 35 people also completed their home isolation, taking the count of such patients till date to 19,828.

“The number of active patients in the district is 5,86. They are under treatment at different hospitals while many are in home isolation,” said Dr Rishi Sahai, district nodal officer.
