Protesters hold demonstrations in Lko
LUCKNOW : State capital witnessed stray demonstrations against farm laws on Monday. The demonstrations were held by farmers, Samajwadi Party workers and few others. This was perhaps for the third time in last 15 days when farmers and other activists came out on roads to register their protest on the issue.
More than 50 farmers, associated with Bharatiya Kisan Union tried to block the traffic on Dewa road. They marched from Dewa road to Chinhat Crossing.
“The protest is against the farm laws, harassment of the farmers in the name of stubble burning and several other issues,” said a local farmer who was the part of the protest on Dewa road.
The protest was followed by another in Kaiserbagh where activist of Samajwadi Party staged the demonstration in support of the farmers. They also staged a demonstration at the district magistrate office. “We are with the farmers in their fight against farm laws,” said Ram Govid Chowdhary, senior SP leader while heading the protest.
The district police and administration had made elaborate security arrangements to keep the protestors away yet the protestors managed to hold demonstration at several places. “We are staging demonstration against the stringent laws,” said Ram Avtar, a farmer from Barabanki, who was the part of the protest.
Prior to this, the city witnessed the farmers protest in November end. It was followed by another one on December 8 after farmers union gave a ‘Bharat Bandh’ call.
