Lawyers stage protest near district court
PRAYAGRAJ: A group of lawyers under the District Bar Association staged a protest outside the district court demanding withdrawal of FIRs lodged against them at different police stations of the district, which they claimed were registered over false allegations.
The lawyers listed a number of FIRs including one lodged against lawyer Abhishek Rai at Colonelganj police station along with an FIR against association’s office-bearer Rakesh Kumar Dubey at Civil Lines and Colonelganj police stations without any investigations.
The lawyers handed over a memorandum to SP (city) Dinesh Kumar Singh, which was addressed to SSP Prayagraj, demanding withdrawal of cases against lawyers and instructing the police to stop their harassment.
The SHOs should be instructed to lodge FIRs against lawyers only after proper investigations.
