LUCKNOW : Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday dared Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Sidharth Nath Singh to join him in a debate on the condition of governmentrun primary schools in Uttar Pradesh as compared to those in Delhi.

However, Sisodia did not answer queries of media persons when they raised a question mark on this comparison as UP has around 1.58 lakh primary schools as compared to Delhi’s only 1,000 odd one.

Sisodia was in Lucknow for an open debate on ‘State of Education – Kejriwal’s Delhi Model versus Yogi’s UP Model’ at Gandhi Bhawan in Kaiserbagh. At the dais, a chair was left vacant for UP minister Sidharth Nath Singh with his name written over it and his flex cut-out kept by the side.

On the occasion, two videos were also played showing improved condition of primary schools in Delhi after the AAP came to power there. “Situation of government schools in Delhi improved under the Arvind Kejriwal’s government but in Uttar Pradesh, people are still waiting for improvement in primary schools,” Sisodia told media persons.

However, when media persons raised a question mark on this comparison pointing that

UP has around 1.58 lakh primary schools against Delhi’s 1000 plus only, Sisodia had to answer. He tried to avoid the question and said: “These are all excuses.”

Sisodia lost his cool when the media persons asked him about Arvind Kejriwal’s controversial statement in which he had said: “The situation is such that a person from Bihar buys a ticket to Delhi for Rs 500 and returns after availing free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh. It makes us happy as they are people of our own country but Delhi has its own capacity. How can Delhi serve people of the entire country? Hence there is a need to improve the health care services here.” The Delhi deputy CM dubbed the reporter as associated with a particular political party. Later, the AAP alleged that Lucknow police stopped Sisodia from inspecting a primary school in Mohanlalganj on the city outskirts.
